Last week was a big week for MMO fans. After years of waiting, rumors both for and against the concept of a BioWare/LucasArts MMO, and a level of secrecy normally only associated with military contract renewals, the two companies finally took the wraps off of Star Wars: The Old Republic. We know it'll be years yet before we're in-game, but it's been a lot of fun talking about what we can expect down the road here on Massively. Here, then, is everything we know about the game at this point in time. Click through to read some of our coverage, and keep your eyes out for future articles on the site about BioWare's in-development title. We've got a long way to go, MMO fans! When you first start out in the game, making EverQuest 2 Plat can seem like a tedious process. The truth is, making EQ2 Plat takes time and effort. You don't have to buy EQ2 Plat in the real world, but you also don't have to spend $20 on a EQ2 Plat guide that will only tell you the same things that you can do with a little common sense.

Ben Sawyer's Serious Game Summit got underway yesterday at GDC. Raph Koster started things off with his "Theory of Fun" talk, from his book and based on his talk at the Austin Game Conference in 2003. I had a chance to speak about Serious Games in Second Life, Wilde Cunningham, Brigadoon Island and Virtual Hallucinations, which was quite fun (and seems to have been well received.) Also got see a great demo by Andrew Phelps and Dave Parks of RIT, who's MUPPETS project is an amazing approach to computer science education. It is also exciting because it echos many of the benefits of collaboration and real-time development that we see in Second Life. A couple of things from Raph's talk jumped out at me. Several times he focused on the difference between "thinking" and "knowing."

Lineage 2 is almost 2 years old now and players are currently working their way through Chronicle 4: Scions of Destiny, the game's latest free content addition. If you're not familiar with the Lineage series, they are leading MMORPGs in Korea where they were developed, and they have subscribers that number in the millions overseas. They haven't been a huge success in North America, but Lineage 2 is making an effort to break into this market.

As an MMORPG, there isn't a storyline to the game per se. There is quite an immense back story - over 70 years of Conan stories have been written for the game developers to use to create the world of Hyboria.
